I was recommended this for my nervous rescue dog who's triggered by the sound of scissors and can't tolerate brushes, combs or silicone mitts. If your pet is ok with the sound of an electric toothbrush, then this is very similar. Lots of positive rewards for being near it before starting to use - one step at a time. It cuts really easily with no pressure required, even thin fluffy tufts.

I've used these for a number of years, just to keep in my pocket as a quick check for electric fences when I'm checking livestock. Doesn't give you a voltage, but you can roughly gauge how well the fence is working by how close you need to hold the tester before it beeps.
